As an educator, in addition to teaching multiple levels of Acting, I have enjoyed teaching a wide range of classes in my sub-specialties including, Voice & Diction, Movement and Stage Combat for the Actor, Shakespeare, Chekhov, Dramatic Literature, Theater History and Children’s Theater and Directing.
I have been fortunate to teach a wide diversity of student demographics and have become increasingly devoted to equity, diversity and inclusion practices in my classroom and department.
… therefore providing us with a view through to our souls where we might be, ever so slightly, inspired and changed by the event. Theater provides a unique opportunity to teach, inspire and effect change through our storytelling, so we as theater artists and educators must purposefully aim to tell stories about ALL of us, avoiding an ethnocentric lens of whitewashed history, so that the art we share and produce increases the capacity of our community to understand and embrace ideas that have not historically been given a voice. To that end, theater training today should, with an abundance of discipline and compassion, prepare, encourage and embolden students to create and participate in a performing arts field which reflects who they are and the stories and experiences that matter to them. As I tell my students and colleagues, the Theater Community should set an example of inclusion, compassion and love for the rest of the world.
Professor Cummings is amazing! I've taken many different acting teachers before but she is by far my favorite I've ever had. She will motivate you to act and get into the business and help you appreciate it more. Definitely would take her again.

Loved her class! I was nervous to take this class because I wasn’t comfortable with public speaking but from day 1, she builds a comfortable environment that makes it easy to be vulnerable with your peers. She is super funny and always gives great feedback on your acting.
