Christine Cummings

I was lucky enough to have Christine Cummings as my director twice, once in an online production that tested my skills and flexibility, and once in the hardest and most emotional play I’ve ever done in my 15 years of theater experience. Her strength, creativity, and compassion as a director was vital to my success and joy during both experiences. She’s ambitious, determined, and relentlessly creative! No other director has me made my feel as supported as individual, and nurtured as an actor, as Christine has. She was truly a joy to work with, and anyone would be blessed to have her as their director!

What hasn't Professor Cummings done especially well? I couldn't imagine doing what she did and all through zoom this semester. I believe one of her strong suits is that she is exceptionally organized, which was one of the only reasons this production was possible.

Honestly, this was an experience of a lifetime. We all needed it and I wouldn't have rather gone through it all with anyone else other than this amazing Director! Every part, even with obstacles and a short time period, was worth it and I am so grateful that we were able to make art under these circumstances! Thank you!

Working with Christine Cummings is one of the best experiences to have especially if you are a new actor. As a new actor she really takes the time to help mold and shape you character into all that they can, it doesn't matter if it's the principle character or a background character with a single line of dialogue. By the time the show goes up your character will have a full life of experiences and personality. As for more experienced actors it is a pleasure as well, she will always give an actor space to come up with their own character with little notes here and there to get them on the right track. Overall, it is a great experience working with Christine Cummings!

She was extremely patient and understanding, and even adapted to my personality in order to coach me in a way that that allowed me to fully understand my character, the show, and how to approach them both. Her knowledge, expertise, and professionalism speaks volumes about her passion for the craft.

Being physically emotive and expressing my feelings were something I just didn't do and was extremely uncomfortable with. Within a few weeks, Christine broke me out of my shell, and had me performing at a level I didn't think possible for me at the time, being a new actor with zero experience.

It is now nine years later, a dozen shows behind me, and I still consider my role in this show as one of the best performances I ever gave; all thanks to Christine. My experience in that show motivated me to continue pursuing acting. I attribute her to all my acting successes, and thanks to her and her continued support, I now have a Masters Degree in acting and pursuing a career in the art.
